During the summer of ’99, Cory Booker lived in a tent in a Newark Parking lot.
“It was a PR stunt.” says Booker. He spent 10 days and nights under the ballroom-sized tent, refusing food, talking to the news media “I just took a page out of the sit-ins from the civil rights movement,” says Booker.
Ironically, yesterday on his Ustream channel, Booker pointed out the illegality of using tents in Military Park.
Occupy Newark IS NOT a PR stunt. Occupy Newark IS NOT running for office, nor is it appeasing major media conglomerates.
Occupy Newark IS tired of economic inequality, tired of the way power is haphazardly acquired, then abused, in the name of a generation of unafraid dreamers whose leaders were slaughtered like cattle.
We will not allow our forefathers to be mocked today, for if we do, we too will have fallen in line like cattle.
Instead we are the 99 percent.
